After we got home from our little shopping adventure and having survived the endless line-ups, Don and I came up with the idea to share easy but delicious recipes with our fellow self-isolators to hopefully make their lives a little better. Think of it as a quick and easy dinner guide to help you navigate all the cans you may have hoarded on your own recent shopping spree.

I’m Dreaming of a Wine Christmas

Three Christmases ago, Don and I decided to start a little family tradition for his mama. Her birthday being in November and us never being able to drive out nine hours for the party, we decided to welcome her each Christmas with a customized birthday cake. The first year, we went for a classic Black Forest cake. The second year, there was a special request for a Strawberry Shortcake. And this year, I decided to take her favourite drink, Red Berry Sangria, and transform it into layers of decadent vanilla cake, red berry sangria compote and a light mascarpone frosting, a Wine Christmas birthday cake. For all the wine and dessert lovers out there, this one is for you!

Slurps up! Curry Pumpkin Soup! Fall isn’t the glorious season that it is without pumpkins and this year I ventured (for the first time in my life I might add) to a pumpkin patch with Don. To say that I enjoyed my time at Miller’s Bay Farm is an understatement! I was like a freakin’ kid in a candy shop, jumping over pumpkins for the perfect goofy shot, going through rows upon rows of pumpkins to try and find the perfect ones for both Thanksgiving recipes and a couple of Jack-o-lanterns for Halloween.

Rebels ITK joined forces with the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO) to create a cooking party to celebrate the end of their Café-communauté summer program, a program that supports families that are new to the Ottawa region. We had a blast!!!
